We started by studying different sites in Daman in groups of 10 each. I studied the Tata Training Centre for the Blind, Phansa. It was a very unique yet the most needed concept of teaching them homme science and other things like farming and animal husbandry, all of which could be practiced by them in their villages. Tatawadi had a very different environment and atmosphere than other Daman sites. The place is surrounded by trees and huge wetlands with water lilies and hyacinths growing in them. There was a temperature drop, the humidity was high. It felt a little isolated from the city life of daman but it was helpful for the people with blindness to learn faster and not get distracted. The hostel was designed and made similar to their houses back in the villages.
We later looked at the environmental flows of the place and if we could intervene in a way that it could make some conditions better. After which I worked with a partner to design the intervention.
The site was changed to the industrial area in daman as we saw a good opportunity to intervene in the terrible conditions of the place. We put together a website (link below) consisting of all the studies, design iterations, and works.
