WHAT'S A SHRINE?

Updated: Sep 15, 2022

This is the first module where we are creating spaces with actual materials, scale, and proportions and calculating and understanding the wooden joints (as our material was wood). We were asked to create a space for the sea god, not a temple. Worshipping the sea god could also mean spending time at the beach listening to the sea or watching and even feeling it. I wanted to create a space where all your senses can only sense the sea. In my space, I've positioned a megaphone in such a way that the sound of the waves is amplified and you can only see the sea. The ramp allows you to stand above the sea because of which you can only smell the sea, the salty smell which also gives you a taste of it. Without actually tasting the sea, you get the grainy, salty taste on your lips and the tongue.
